Survey Results
On October 5, the PEC Needs Child Care Working Group emailed a letter to all 33 candidates running for mayor or councillor in Prince Edward County.
The letter included a survey of two multiple choice questions, and two open-ended questions. We received 23 responses in total. Thank you to all those who took the time to respond. The collected responses are contained in the PDF linked below.

Question 1
To what extent do you agree with the following statement: “Addressing the lack of licensed childcare spaces available for PEC families should be a priority for the municipality.”

Question 2
Recruiting Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) and other staff is crucial to expanding licensed child care spaces, but wages and conditions are so poor that attracting and retaining qualified staff is often impossible. If elected, to what extent would you support implementing recruitment and retention incentives for RECEs?

Question 3
Improving access to licensed child care is a complex issue, involving all three levels of government, community partners, local and regional institutions, and many stakeholders. The potential benefits are significant, and the solution(s) will require creativity, cooperation and coordination. If elected, what measures would you support the municipality taking to address the child care crisis?
